There’s the beautiful seaside towns of Porto Santo Stefano and Porte Ercole and their fascinating history, the convents on the mountain and the Roman ruins in Pozarello, and the great fortifications and towers built by the Spanish to repel invaders and pirates.

The western coastline is gorgeous, with fabulous views out to the islands from the Strada Panoramica that circles around from the north to east, with secluded gated villas hugging the rocky coastline and numerous little coves and small pebble beaches to discover and enjoy just a short, steep walk down from the main road. Take all the time you need. Take days.
