Sunset at Penultima, the free beach at Ultima Spiaggia in Chiarone looking north towards Argentario at the end of another wonderful day. It’s hot and sunny but with a lovely breeze, the water is fresh, the sand golden, and the end of the day is warm and mild, and spectacular.

There’s an enchanting cafe on the beach made from old wooden beams, free bathrooms, cheap showers, and lots of parking just behind the dunes. A drink here before an icecream in Capalbio Scalo or a trip to the supermarket in Borgo Carige on the way home is the perfect end to another beautiful day.
