The absolutely very best gelateria in the region is Gusto Capalbio in Capalbio Scalo. This is not a discussion. Their gelato is great. Trust us. The town itself is small and functional; the local train station, a few shops, and excellent Carefour supermarket, and the Ortaggi Miei fresh vegetable garden on the road from the highway.

The second best gelato is in Orbetello at Le Logge in Corso Italia on the main square, but if you don’t want to get into your car, walk up to the entrance to the old town in Capalbio. The very cool little La Bottega del Folle bar on the right hand side of the entrance has decent gelato, and great cocktails!
