The stunningly beautiful old center of Capalbio inside the imposing city walls, with numerous little squares, a few lovely cafes, artisan shops, and the San Nicola church and Aldobrandeschi fortress at its heart. There are steps up to the tower walls which you can walk around, looking out over the surrounding valley down to the sea or inland, and looking back across the town center.

Capalbio is a terrific base to explore the region, with all the amenities and shops you might need to plan an extended stay, including a couple of general food stores, a bakery, butcher, delicatessen and a chemist. Winter is mild, people are booking for Spring and early summer already, and we have dates available at discount rates in our two apartments just below the city walls overlooking the nature reserve and the sea.
