Bagno Vignoni

The ancient town of Bagno Vignoni is in the Val d’Orcia National Park on the road north to Siena. Famous for it’s thermal hot springs since Roman times, the town is on the Via Francigena, the route followed by pilgrims which runs from Cantebury in England down to Rome and on to Jerusalem.

The remarkable Old Baths of St. Catherine, built in the 16th century, dominate the main square in the heart of the beautiful old town. You can’t enjoy the water here, but if you follow the small canals down the path to the bottom of the hill below the town there is the Park of the Mills, with its large free rectangular pool. There are also several smaller pools further along the river!
