The Strada Panoramica that runs around the western coast of Argentario from Porto Santo Stefano in the north to Porto Ercole around, down and to the east is a fabulous road with spectacular views of the coastline. It has a stretch of dirt road in the south and requires attentive driving, but it’s still easily doable in a standard family car.

There are numerous gorgeous coves and beaches to stop at along the way. They require various lengths of walk from the road down to the beaches, but it’s more than worth it because the water is gorgeous and the surroundings magnificent. We particularly like Cala del Gesso, Le Cannelle, L’Aqua Dolce, Spiaggia Lunga, and our favorite Le Viste with it’s terrific bar looking out over the water.
