The Argentario coastline is spectacular, with terrific views from the Strada Panoramica that circles the peninsula from Porto Santo Stefano to Porto Ercole. The water is crystal blue, and there are numerous accessible little coves and rocky beaches a short sometimes steep walk down little paths from the main road.

Le Viste on the outskirts of Porto Ercole is our favorite, set in lush vegetation with a lovely little bar perched above the beach overlooking the tiny L’Isolotto island. There are free toilets and showers, and sunbed and umbrella hire in the cove next to it if you want to feel fancy and pampered. But there are so many to choose from and experience, including Cala del Gesso, Le Cannelle and L’Acqua Dolce.
