The lovely ferns and grass and vegetation in the dunes behind the beach at La Torba, which halfway between the WWF nature reserve at Lago di Burano and the peninsula at Ansedonia. It’s easy the reach; turn left off the highway at the little settlement of La Torba as you head towards Orbetello and it’s a straight drive to the beach. The cafe is lovely too, set on a high dune above and overlooking the beach, rather than directly on the sand.
The water is lovely, the sand soft and golden, and there are showers, bathrooms, a cafe, bar, and little restaurant, lots of free parking, plus umbrella and sunbed hire. You can also walk for miles in either direction to find the perfect secluded spot for yourselves. Pets are welcome, there’s lots of driftwood to admire or build Robinson Crusoe huts or chew on if you’re a doggo, and it’s generally quieter and more laid back than other popular beaches along the coast.
