Capalbio

Capalbio’s medieval fortress wall, which encircles the old town, built when the town thrived under the rule of the Aldobrandeschi family then the Republic of Siena from the 13th century onwards. The path that runs around the outside of the walls has fabulous views of the coastline, Argentario, the Maremma. There are also a number of little cafes and restaurants built into the walls, and houses!

Capalbio is tiny, but it has a number of excellent bars and trattorias, a modest range of fashion shops, boutiques, galleries, and fine artisan shops, two small general stores that sell everything you might need for the fridge and kitchen, delicatessens, a fresh bakery and cake shop, a butcher, and a few newsagents.
