Capalbio is the prettiest town in the Maremma, perched on a bluff looking down to the sea, surrounded by a nature reserve, and with a lovely old center with tiny cobbled streets and little squares encircled by imposing castle walls. It’s a perfect place to stay, rich in history, quiet and easygoing and friendly.

There are a number of cafes and restaurants in the old center and just outside the city walls, plus a couple of general food stores, a bakery, butcher, delicatessen and chemist. There are a number of very fashionable little artisan fashion shops, a couple of cool bars, and a petrol station at the bottom of the hill. We still have dates available in July and September. The water is warm, the crowds have gone, evenings are mild, and the sunsets are golden.
